Let the sun shine in~~~ These flower dolls will steal your heart!

I followed a Flower Doll pattern from an old issue of Creative Knitting Magazine, which I unfortunately cannot find anymore. If anyone out there recognizes this pattern, please let me know–I’d love to be able to give credit where it’s due.

The orange, blue and striped flowers follow the pattern closely, but the pink flower features modified petals. I basically created long I-cords and coiled them to make petals–the effect reminds me of paper quilling.

Most of the dolls were knit in cotton yarns for durability and ease of care. I did also use some acrylic yarns (pink petals and blue petals), since I had a limited range of cotton colors.

You may have also noticed that their faces are all sewn with black yarn. These flowers made their way into the cribs of my friends who…

Jenny Lee's Jottings

This post involves three of my favorite things: Crafting, Recycling, and Webby!

As many of you may already know, Korean summers are just plain awful. While the temperatures aren’t astronomically high at about 20-30 degrees Celsius (70-85 degrees Fahrenheit), it’s the 80% plus humidity that can be unbearable. You know that feeling when you step into a bathroom just after someone has taken a really long, hot shower in it? BLECH. That’s the whole country of Korea in the summer. However, Korea also has a monsoon season where the heavens dump ENORMOUS amounts of rain for about a month during the summer.

Monsoon season has yet to start in Korea, but there have been a few rainy days here and there. My poor dog, Webby, has gotten pretty wet while we’ve been outside on our daily walks. I’ve been meaning to make a raincoat for her forever, and finally…

“C” is for Choco, the name of my aunt’s Shih Tzu — and it also stand for “Cool!” Wouldn’t you agree? Choco is modeling a great turtleneck sweater that I made from a free Lion Brand pattern.

I knit this with Lion Brand Fun Fur and two strands of Bernat Baby Coordinates knit together.  And now Choco is ready for a night on the town~~ Looking good!

Jenny Lee's Jottings

I’m a self-taught calligrapher, and I’ll be the first to admit that my technique isn’t quite up to par…but this piece is still important to me because of the quotation. Samuel Johnson’s words were very helpful while I was practicing art therapy, and working through some personal issues.

What quotes or sayings have helped you through tough times?

Today was fairly warm, and I wanted my hair off my neck and back— Presto! It’s actually really easy to do, and it helps with my posture—when my hair is up like this, I find that I don’t slouch and lean back on the couch like I usually do!

Braids Galore! Dutch braid buns hairstyle~~

A very simple-to-do ‘do that looks more complicated than it is. I simply did two Dutch braids to the ends of my hair, then twisted each braid into its own little bun.

One of my favorite quotes. Hmm…I wonder what this piece says about my nature?

Jenny Lee's Jottings

This piece combines some of my favorite elements: calligraphy, water soluble pastels, red and yellow together, quotations and roses.

This quote also speaks to the heart of who I am. Having practiced a lot of art therapy, I know all too well how true this quote is.

Mod Fashion–Webby Style!

I love how the colors pop! Hmm…maybe a tribute to other decades is in order? A poodle skirt for the 50s? A denim jacket for the 80s?

Oh, Webby– how elegant you are!

knitting nandu

Webby is ready for high society in this tailored little number! While her Pretty in Pink and Blue and Yellow Stripe Sweater make her look like a little cotton-candy fuzzball, this fitted garment really shows off her sleek and leggy physique–and yeah, I’m jealous ;)!

I’m a big fan of the Renaisssance Faire– and while I didn’t have a costume, I still wanted to get in the spirit of things. Fortunately, my friend, Claudia, felt the same way–so we settled for some old-fashioned braided hairstyles. This is the hairdo I did for her–I love the way the pops against her dark hair~~

I did this braided & beribboned ‘do for my good friend Claudia at the Renaissance Faire. Oh what a fair lady she was!

Anyone who knows me knows what an “As Seen on TV” junkie I am– Do you remember the Topsy Tail? If you have one, it’s very helpful for the flipped ponytail effect above–but if not, no sweat. I didn’t have one either, and just used my fingers. However, I’ve recently started watching hairstyle videos on YouTube (I blame the Hunger Games for reigniting my interest in hairstyles!), and would like to get one for some of the great new styles I’ve seen— posts to come soon, I promise!

Wedding Hairstyle: Flipped Ponytail with Flowing Curls

I had the honor of being a bridesmaid for my good friend, Kim. After some experimenting, I decided to use this hairstyle for the big event: a flipped ponytail with long flowing curls.
