Today was fairly warm, and I wanted my hair off my neck and back— Presto! It’s actually really easy to do, and it helps with my posture—when my hair is up like this, I find that I don’t slouch and lean back on the couch like I usually do!
I’m a big fan of the Renaisssance Faire– and while I didn’t have a costume, I still wanted to get in the spirit of things. Fortunately, my friend, Claudia, felt the same way–so we settled for some old-fashioned braided hairstyles. This is the hairdo I did for her–I love the way the pops against her dark hair~~
Anyone who knows me knows what an “As Seen on TV” junkie I am– Do you remember the Topsy Tail? If you have one, it’s very helpful for the flipped ponytail effect above–but if not, no sweat. I didn’t have one either, and just used my fingers. However, I’ve recently started watching hairstyle videos on YouTube (I blame the Hunger Games for reigniting my interest in hairstyles!), and would like to get one for some of the great new styles I’ve seen— posts to come soon, I promise!
I’ve alternated between growing my hair out, and donating my hair to Locks of Love when it gets to be waist-length. I’m blessed with great hair genes from my mom, so I’ve already been able to make three donations over the years. Of course, there’s a period of time while my hair is really long when I love to experiment with various hairstyles. This was one of my favorites!
My second donation: The two on the left are mine (I have thick hair). The one on the right is my hubby’s–that’s right! I managed to convince my husband to donate–but only the one time~~
