Life in Korea

Although I was born in Korea, I immigrated to the US before I was two years old.

But despite this immersion in US culture, my parents were very dedicated in their efforts to raise me with a strong Korean identity. Korean was the only language spoken at home, I attended Saturday Korean school for ten years, and our family took occasional trips to Korea to visit family. Perhaps it was inevitable that I would want to try living in Korea after I graduated from college. Little did I know that I would meet my future husband in Korea–a native Korean–and that Korea would become my new home.

But as they say, you can take the girl out of California, but you can’t get California out of the girl. While I have the advantage of language and cultural familiarity on my side, there are still countless times when I am reminded of the disconnect that exists in my life now that I am living in Korea. Korean Kibble is my blog dedicated to my musings and observations of life in Korea as a Korean American expat woman. Hope you enjoy the madness, paradoxes, and sometimes insightful reflections that fill my life here in the Land of the Morning Calm.
